Obituary of Frances E. Marcano

Frances E. Marcano, a devoted Christian, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 9, 2025.  Born on August 30, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, New York, to Louise J. Walker Matthews, Frances was raised in Greenburgh, New York.

A member of the Union Baptist Church, Frances actively participated in its religious activities, including serving as a choir member. Her professional career spanned Reader’s Digest and Avon. In the early 1960s, the Marcanos relocated to Warwick, New York, where they purchased their home.

She dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving Calvary Baptist Church, particularly in the music programs. She sang solos, sang in the choir, directed the choir, and played the piano for church services, soloists, and the Junior and Senior Choirs. When the church needed an organist, she taught herself to play and became the organist. She also contributed to the church’s education programs, teaching Women’s Bible Study and Bible study classes for children of different levels. Additionally, she was involved in Women’s missions groups and was also a traveling speaker sharing her Christian life for a group called Christian Women.

Frances was a loving wife for 71 years to Harold J. Marcano, Sr, whom she grew up with in Greenburgh, NY. She was the loving and supportive mother of Jacqueline, Vivian, Joe, Murry, John, Robert, Timothy and the many foster children they raised. She was the loving mother-in-law of Heydi and her husband Dave. She was the loving grandmother of Jeffrey, Hayle, Nicholas, Kevin and Jenna and the great grandmother of Lorenzo and Adonis.

A few of her favorite pastimes included contacting her old friends to share in conversation and sitting on the porch to enjoy God’s creation.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles and singing along with the Gaithers and past Calvary Baptist concerts and cantatas. She was also an avid NY sports fan (Yankees, Knicks, Rangers),

A private viewing and burial service will be held for the immediate family. Extended family and friends are kindly requested to attend a Celebration of Life service to be scheduled for the summer.
