Obituary of Ellen V. Moran

Ellen Veronica (Dougherty) Moran  88, a longtime resident of Billerica, MA  , formerly of Somerville passed away on March 29, 2025 at Lowell General Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Moran. Ellen was born in Boston, June 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Emery C. and Rose (Gibbons) Dougherty. She went to High School at Sacred Heart in East Cambridge. She retired from the Billerica School Department as a secretary and also from M.I.T. Lincoln Labs working for several years. Ellen, known to most as "Gram", was always willing to help anyone at anytime. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her ll Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren, always telling them, "She  Loved Them to The Moon and Back!". You could find "gram" reading a newspaper or book, watching Blue Bloods, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune or playing Bingo, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, where she won occasionally. She is survied by her Children,  Paul & (Donna) Moran of Derry,NH, Kathleen Memmolo & late  husband (Nicholas) of Billerica, MA, Margaret (Peggy) Capaldo & finance (Michael Joseph) of Gloucester, MA, and Robert & (Patricia) Moran of Burlington, MA.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert,  two sisters (Rose Sullivan & Kathleen Donoghue) one brother (Robert Dougherty). In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in memory in honor of Ellen to a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the folks at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley  in Billerica where Ellen resided for the last two years.  Special thanks to Ana (mom loved getting her nails done),  Barbara, Justine and countless others who provided excellent care for our mother. 

 

Funeral from the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica, Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 8:00 AM followed by a funeral mass at St, Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Andrew Church, 45 Talbot Ave. Billerica at 9:00 AM.  Relatives & friends invited. Burial will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. www.burnsfuneralhomes.com.
