Obituary of Louise C. Hawkins

Louise (Cronin) Hawkins 94, a long time resident of Billerica, passed away at her home on Monday, July 7, 2025 with her family by her side.  Born in Arlington, MA on April 12 1931, the daughter of John E. and Mary F. (Mahoney) Cronin.  She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church & St. Andrews Church in Billerica.  She was predeceased by sixteen brothers and sisters, husband Frederick H. Hawkins, son William P. Hawkins, daughter Cathy Hawkins,  and companion of 48 years Thomas J. Eagan.  Surviving members of the family include: Deborah & Jerry Sobel, Grace and Frank Silva, Carolyn Hawkins & partner Shannon Danford, Frederick Hawkins & partner Patricia Wall, Maureen Hawkins, Marilyn Hawkins, Mary & Raymond Gauthier, Joseph & Raquel Hawkins, James & Mary Grace Hawkins, and Virginia & Robert Marchand. She cherished her 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and her 5 special grand dogs.  Many nieces and nephews and one special cousin, Paul Cronin and wife Janet of Bozeman MT and dear sister in law Joanie Hawkins.

Widowed at age 37, she raised 11 children on her own, she was fearless and a force to be reckoned with.  She loved spending winters in Florida and loved traveling to Cape Cod in the summer.  She was an avid reader and loved all types of sports especially baseball, football and horse racing. As a young female on her own and raising her family she learned quickly how to navigate a man’s world and became  her own general contractor and built 3 homes for herself to live in. No one got anything past Mrs. Hawkins.   In her later years, she became friends with her children's friends who all loved to visit her and catch up on the latest gossip.  She will be greatly missed by many, until we meet again.

Funeral at Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), BILLERICA, Friday, July 18, 2025, with visiting hour at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Andrew's Church, North Billerica at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica, MA.  Relatives and friends invited.
