I met David when we started 7th grade at Valley Junior High. His brother was dating my sister’s best friend, so they “set us up”. We became part of a large circle of friends who would attend football games, parties and just have fun hanging out. For our school parties, I used to write skits that were takeoffs of quiz shows. David didn’t hesitate to participate as a contestant on The Price Is Wrong and Queen For A Day. On his 14th birthday, I had a surprise pizza party for him at my house during our school lunch hour. The picture was taken after a football game in the fall of 1960. We were eating banana splits with our friends Dorothy Laird and Mark Hanson, and my beloved cat, Kee-Kee. My heartfelt condolences to David’s family.

My Uncle David, Aunt Annette, and cousins Cara, Jacque, and Brittany became like a second family to me in the early ’90s when I was attending school in Boston. I was fortunate to have them close by in Billerica, and I often went there for Thanksgivings, Easters, or simply to spend time together. Uncle Dave would sometimes bring me to his print shop to “work,” and at the end of the day he’d hand me a wad of cash—though in truth it was mostly for picking up lunch and beers for him and his crew. That was Uncle Dave: generous, kind, and always supportive of his family and friends.
He also had a gift for making me laugh uncontrollably with his quick wit and mischievous sense of humor. I don’t think I would have made it through college without the support of Uncle Dave and his family during those formative years. Although it has been a long time since I’ve seen Dave and the family in person, I hope they know how grateful I am for the role they played in my life as a young man.
I will miss Uncle Dave deeply. In my heart, I picture him reunited with Brittany—sharing a smoke, cracking a joke, and lifting the spirits of the everyone around him. Godspeed, Uncle Dave.

I was in high school when David and Annette had their first daughter Cara and knew him before that so it has to be at least 46 years. What a great man who was always there for everyone, you could have a conversation with him about anything, he was so smart. His greatest pride was his family, he loved unconditionally and was a rock for everyone. David's passing has taken a little piece of many people's hearts but he has earned his wings and will watch over his family from above. You will be missed David, rest in eternal peace.

I didn't know David Howe as well as I should have, but every time I spoke to him or saw him he struck me as a very forthright man. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always helping other people smile. He had a warm, kind attitude. I'm terribly sorry to hear of his passing, but I know that he will be fondly remembered by everyone who had the good fortune to know him. Jesus guide him to eternal rest, Amen.

Thank you David for your kind words- I loved you said he was always helping other people smile because if he should be remembered for anything, it should be for how much he was able to see the good in people and compliment them and make them feel seen. He was always so grateful for how much you helped me at work so that I could be with him for all his doctor visits. You are a wonderful friend and a good man❤️

So many childhood memories of us two from putting shelled corn into my Dads 5 gallon grease bucket to hiding under our porch and watching everyone hunt for us to David asking our Grampie Steele if he’s shaved his armpits lately after hearing us girls discussing shaving techniques. He was always entertaining and so loved by my family! I know how much he is going to be missed. Sending our love and sympathy to the whole Howe family. Mick and Kae Acre Story
