Obituary of Evelyn A. Whiteway
Billerica, Massachusetts – Evelyn Whiteway, 68, of Billerica, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, after a brief illness.
Born on July 2, 1957, in Woburn, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Grant Whiteway Sr. and Rose Whiteway. She grew up on Parker Street in Billerica alongside her siblings: Ginny (Ford), Betty (Patriquin), Grant Whiteway Jr., and James Whiteway. She graduated from Billerica Memorial High School in 1975.
Evelyn proudly served her country in the United States Air Force from June 4, 1980, to September 18, 1990, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. During her service she was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and she proudly represented the Air Force by winning multiple military beauty contests.
A hometown girl at heart, Evelyn returned to her beloved Billerica after her service to follow her passion for helping others, pursuing a career in nursing. She could often be found at the Billerica/Chelmsford Thanksgiving Day football game or proudly waving a flag at Yankee Doodle, always showing up for the community she loved. An active member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks, Evelyn was known for her warm heart and generous spirit.
Her love for family and community came to life through her passion for crafting. Whether creating memory books or assembling thoughtful Christmas and Easter baskets, she found meaningful ways to show she cared. As a devoted aunt, she delighted in creating special, lasting moments for her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her siblings: Ginny Ford (husband Jim), Betty Patriquin (husband Terrence Patriquin Sr.), Grant Whiteway Jr. (wife Dawna), and James Whiteway (fiancée Helen Donovan), along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a wide circle of dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Evelyn will be remembered for her proud service to her country, her creativity, and above all, the love and joy she shared so freely. Her kind heart and warm smile touched all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at the Community Congregational Church, 803 Boston Road, Billerica, Thursday, April 9, at 11:00 AM., followed by a collation at the Billerica Elks, 14 Webb Brook Road, Billerica. Relatives and friends invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Billerica Lodge of Elks or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
