Obituary of Jan E. Keough
Jan Ellen Keough, 68, of Woburn, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the Kaplan Hospice House, surrounded by the love of her family and in the presence of her devoted husband, Joseph Keough.
Jan was the beloved daughter of the late Louis and Pearl Kravitz and was preceded in death by her cherished sister, Sandra Zides. She was the devoted and supportive wife of Joseph Keough for 40 years, loving sister of Freddie Kravitz, proud and caring mother to Michela Viglirolo, and adoring Nana to Teagan and McKenna Viglirolo, who brought immense joy to her life.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 26, 1957, Jan graduated from Randolph High School in 1975 and went on to attend Aquinas College, where she earned her associate’s degree in secretarial studies in 1977. She dedicated her career to working as a secretary at Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, where she was known for her kindness, professionalism, and warmth.
Jan had many dear friends and truly cherished the time she spent with them. She was immensely proud of her family and loved them beyond measure. She adored animals, especially dogs, had a passion for fashion, and found great joy in the beach and yearly family vacations to Cape Cod. She also had a deep appreciation for music and concerts and was an avid Boston sports fan. Jan’s warmth and empathy touched everyone who knew her. She had a contagious laugh and a beautiful smile that will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Jan’s life and share stories and memories at Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd. (Rt. 3A), Billerica, on Monday, June 1, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Dimensions to support families caring for and grieving loved ones. The family also wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Kaplan Hospice House for the exceptional compassion, comfort, and care they provided to Jan and her family throughout her illness.
