Dear Murphy Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Gerry. Gerry was an important part of my childhood on Maple Street in Lexington during our early years. Gerry and I and the five other children in three houses 97, 101 and 105 Maple Street spent hours together in our backyards and the woods and fields beyond. We played baseball, acted out imaginary scenarios, climbed trees and just had fun! May Gerry rest in peace. Until we meet again. Love, Charlene Hyde Matheny

My husband, Larry Glynn, has known Gerry, Murphy for more than 50 years and I have been fortunate to have known him for 30 years. Murph has always been a part of our Tucson family, having visited and even lived with us for a period of time. All of our family and friends in Tucson fell in love with Murph as soon as they met him, just as I did. Murph had always been a part of our family on the East coast, too, staying on our boat with us and becoming an integral part of our children’s’ and grandchildren’s lives. He had so many cool and funny sayings that we hav le all adopted and repeat to each other on a daily basis! To say we will miss Mr Murph is like saying flowers would miss rain. He was such a wonderful and meaningful part of all of our lives. Murph will live in our hearts and memories always. We offer our deepest sympathies to Gerry’s family and loved ones.

Sometimes we are lucky to be the recipients of good, wonderful friends.
As you have stated, Gerry was a heavenly gift to all who had the fortune of his friendship and companionship.
Everyday we will remember the amazing person this truly great man was.
When the occasion arises, please include us in your shared memories of Gerry.
God Bless!

Gerry was our neighbor and childhood friend. On our street there were eight kids in three houses in a row and that made for lots of fun whether it be swimming, playing big ball baseball, football or golf. Gerry was a talented athlete, the Murphy family always had the fastest runners! I’m so happy to read that he led such a fulfilling life after we all scattered. Rest Peacefully Gerry. My condolences to Mary, Terry and their families. Bev Smith Tilden
