Obituary of George B. Heafey

Obituary of George B. Heafey

George B. Heafey of Billerica, MA passed away peacefully with his life partner, Marlene Richards by his side on June 8, 2026. Born in Somerville, MA, on November 6, 1940, to John F. and Anne (Bertolino) Heafey, he was the former husband of the late Roberta (Draper) Heafey and is survived by his loving sister, Anne Mc Quade of Hull, MA, and children, Cheryll (Chez) O'Brien and her husband, Douglas of Abington, MA; Darlene M. Pacy and her husband, Mike of Fitchburg, MA; and George B . Heafey, Jr., and his life partner Susan Deehan of Abington, MA. His grandchildren include Sean P. O'Brien, Jared M. O'Brien, and Melanie Lynn O'Brien and great grandchildren, Wilder, Halston, and Axton. He was lovingly referred to as "Papa George" by Marlene's grandchildren, Asher and Reid. George was so proud of his family and loved spending time with them. He was the founder and owner of Cedar Construction Asphalt Paving of Somerville for many years. He was a lover of nature and enjoyed his summer cottage and fishing off his pontoon boat on Millville Lake in Salem, NH, where he hosted many summer parties for his family. He also enjoyed his winter adventures in Boynton Beach, Florida with Marlene, spending time with his good friends and sitting poolside. He was especially close to his cousin's son, Billy Heafey of Melrose, and his nephew, Gregory McQuade of Richmond, Virginia. He is greatly missed by his black lab, Mickey, who may have received a few too many treats from his master. George fought a brave battle with Alzheimer's, but always celebrated visits from his family and loved ones, and never forgot their names.

Visiting Hours will be at Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Road, Billerica, MA, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 2-4:30 P.M, followed by a brief prayer service.
