Obituary of Theresa Mace

Theresa (Giroux) Mace also known as “Terry”, 52, of Billerica, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a courageous battle with Stage 4 cancer, a diagnosis she had only recently received. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit inspired everyone who knew and loved her.

Theresa was born in Lowell, Massachusetts to parents who loved her unconditionally, Robert and Diane Giroux on December 23, 1973. She was raised in Dracut and attended Dracut High School. She made a lasting impact on her community as a beloved school bus driver for many years, where she was affectionately known as the “fun bus driver.” Her warm smile, kind heart, and playful personality brightened the days of countless children and families.

Above all else, Theresa treasured her family. Nothing brought her more joy than being “Meme” to her cherished grandchildren and spending quality time with her loving husband, Chuck, who she adored so much. She loved spending time with them, caring for her three beloved cats, and relaxing with a good puzzle. She also enjoyed spending days on the beach soaking up the sun.  Theresa had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel loved, welcomed, and supported. Even through her illness, she faced every challenge with incredible courage and grace, leaving a lasting example of strength for everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Charles Mace of Billerica; her parents, Robert and Diane Giroux of Dracut; her children, Samantha Giroux and her partner, Matthew, of Pepperell, John Melo and his wife, Giovanna, of Manchester, and Brianna Melo and her partner, Nick, of Pepperell. She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Annalise, Aria, Matthew, Gianni, Julius, Georgia, Myleigh, Bentley, Rae-Ahna, and Kaiden. She also leaves behind her sisters, Cathy Giroux of Dracut, Betty Giroux and her partner Doug of Dracut, and Kelly Giroux of Milton, along with many nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Theresa’s life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Road, Billerica, MA.

Though Theresa’s time with us was far too short, the love she shared, the laughter she brought, and the strength she demonstrated throughout her life will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
