My Tinker Bell. I will always light your way to your forever resting place. Know that our journey may have divided between the living and the spirit. But I will always light your path so you will never be left in the dark and lost. Your journey may have left a place in my heart to never be filled. You will always have light in the darkness towards your eternal resting place.

Sof,
Last year, I decided I needed a change of pace. After almost 10 years of caring for the tiniest little patients in the NICU, I decided to make the jump into home health nursing… and somehow, I got lucky enough to have you as my very first patient. To say I was terrified would be an understatement, and I swear you knew it too!! I was so far outside of the little NICU world I had known for so long, and I had absolutely no idea just how much you were about to change my life.
It didn’t take long before I fell in love with you and everything that made you, you. Your personality, your sass, your little quirks, and all of the things I got to learn about you from spending so many days and nights by your side.
You taught me pretty quickly that home health nursing is so much more than taking care of a patient. When you spend 3 to 5 days a week in someone’s home, somewhere along the way, your patient becomes family. And so does their family. I never expected that when I made this career change, but I’m so grateful that you were the one who got to teach me that.
I would give anything for one more spa sesh with you. One more night doing your nails, putting some random playlist on shuffle and jamming out together. One more shift of just getting to hang out with you and be your nurse. I wish more than anything that we had gotten more time, but I know you’re comfortable now and watching over your family, who loved you more than anything in this world.
Thank you for letting me be your nurse, Sof. Thank you for trusting me, teaching me, making me laugh, and reminding me why I chose this career in the first place. I went into home health thinking I just needed a change of pace, and instead I found you.
I’ll carry a little piece of you with me for the rest of my life. I love you and miss you so much, sweet girl. ❤️

I worked with Sofia only one time recently; but was looking forward to helping out again. In the one shift, it was evident that Sofia is a special kid and her presence leaves an impact on those who are able to interact with her and that she had a strong fighting spirit. Sending love and condolences on the loss of this sweet girl. <3 Rest in peace kiddo

My Sweet Tinker Bell. You came to me with arms wide for me to hug and hold you. You always brought peace to my pain. The time we spent together playing “possum” and bells n whistles will be missed. From our Eskimo kisses/daddy kisses. To the biggest smiles when you stuck out your tongue at me. You inspired me to be the best I possibly could be for both you and your sister. Your place in my heart is now your journey as an angel to protect your sister and give her comfort. I love You, My Sweet Sofia. One day our paths will cross again. God speed. And rest now. You will be missed greatly.
Love, Da Da
