Obituary of Kathleen A. Ruggeri

Kathleen Anne O’Brien Ruggeri, 72, of Billerica, MA., died on Sunday, November 12, 2023. She was born in Northfield, VT on April 23, 1951 to Joseph and Gertrude (Delary) O’Brien. Kathy spent her early childhood years living in Hinesburg, VT then moved to Harwick, VT with her family. She graduated from Hardwick Academy in 1969 before receiving a degree in sociology from University of Connecticut in 1973. Upon graduation, she moved to the Boston area to work at Sears as a computer operator until 1980. On October 7, 1978 Kathy married the love of her life, Frank J Ruggeri. She happily stayed at home with her children for about 10 years. She then returned to work with “mother’s hours” at the Bedford Free Public Library. In 2020, Kathy retired from working full time from the Bedford Library where she then served as head of technical services. She lived her remaining years taking care of her family, particularly enjoying time with her four grandchildren.

Kathy is predeceased by her parents Joseph M O’Brien and Gertrude (Delary) O’Brien and sister Mary (O’Brien) Heins. She is survived by her husband Frank J Ruggeri, children Nicole R Monteiro (Jacob), Matthew Ruggeri (Katie), grandchildren Evie Ruggeri, Penelope Ruggeri, Noah Monteiro, and Anthony Monteiro, brothers Joseph P O’Brien (Louise) and David M O’Brien (Gail), brother-in-law David Heins, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held Friday, November 17, at 10:00 AM in St Matthew’s the Evangelists Parish in St. Theresa's Church, 466 Boston Road, Billerica.  Relatives and friends invited. Interment, Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica, with a reception to follow. Donations can be made to the Bedford Free Public Library, 7 Mudge Way, Bedford, MA 01730, in honor of Kathy Ruggeri.
