Obituary of William P. Gibson

William P. Gibson of Revere, formerly of Cambridge, age 75, died on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Cambridge on April 24, 1944, the son of the late George and Cecelia (O’Hanley) Gibson. He attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin before serving in the Air Force in Vietnam.

William is remembered as a loving brother and uncle, a friendly person always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and member of the Disabled American Veterans organization. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three brothers, Charles Gibson and his wife Eleanor of Waltham, George Gibson and his wife Marie of Cambridge, and Robert Gibson and his wife Mona of Revere; one sister, Constance Sledge of Alabama; his sister-in-law Lorraine, the wife of his late brother Michael, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, James, and John Gibson; one sister, Patricia Gibson, and his brother-in-law Hoyt Sledge.

A memorial wake will be held Thursday, August 22, at the John C. Burns Funeral Home, 305 Broadway, Cambridge, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Relatives and friends invited. Guestbook at www.burnsfuneralhomes.com
