Gwen E. Morris

of Billerica, 71

Billerica—Gwen E. Morris, 71, a longtime resident of Billerica, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lowell on August 19, 1948, he was the son of the late James S. and Marie L. (Boudreau)Morris.

Gwen worked as a surveyor like many members of his family from past generations. In his youth, he was an avid basketball player, and a Merrimack Valley Basketball Conference champion while attending Billerica High School. He was also a great storyteller, and an advocate for helping individuals get access to services within the Alcoholics Anonymous organization.

He loved spending time with his family, meeting them for coffee, and discussing politics and sports. He enjoyed walking around his favorite parts of Billerica. He loved listening to music and sharing his favorite oldies songs.

He is survived by his son James Morris, his daughter Ashley Morris and her fiancé Elvis Frias of Methuen, and her son Elvis Jr. He leaves behind his grandsons Johnathan “JJ” and Justin of Florida. He also leaves his beloved sister Beverly Merrill and brother-in-law Russell Merrill. He also leaves sisters-in-law Gloria Morris, Gerry Morris, and Mary Morris. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and has many lifelong friends who will miss him very much.

He was very proud to be a part of the Morris family. He was the youngest brother of the late Stewart, Darrell, Courtney “Moose”, Charlie, Harvey, and Whitey Morris. He was also predeceased by his beautiful daughter Tauryn.
