My deepest condolences on the death of Sheila.
I did attend her retirement party at the new hotel in Chelsea. A terrific turnout for Sheila.
Sheila was a member of the DCF Area Board at the Chelsea Area Office. Sheila did presentations at the office to inform DCF staff of the work at Community Connections.
Sheila also collaborated in the training of our new social work staff. As I hired new staff, part of their training (along with the month long training at DCF Central Office) new staff wound spend a day at Community Connections, as Sheila imparted her extensive knowledge of resources and connections within the Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop and East Boston sectors of the Office.
My favorite memories of Sheila Are the Summer Fun Bus which she organized for families in the area. There were fun activities and venues, on Saturdays in the summer, where families would catch the Fun Bus at the DCF Office for a great day for parents and kids to have FUN and make memories.
Additionally Sheila had a Community Garden in a patch of land. There she would show the kids how to prepare the soil, plant the seeds and tend the garden. Kids got to see how food is grown and enjoyed their own vegetables.
What wonderful and full life. Rest In Peace Sheila!
