Obituary of Phyllis J. Ingersoll

Phyllis J. (Hartling) Ingersoll, age 94, died Friday, October 9, 2020 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford.  She was the beloved wife of the late William W. Ingersoll. She was born in Cambridge, July 13, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Alice Mae (Carter) Hartling. Phyllis worked for Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington and later worked at Kmart in Billerica. A longtime resident of Billerica, she was a faithful communicant at St. Theresa’s Parish and a member of the Billerica Senior Center. Phyllis was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all in her life. She was an avid walker who enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather and had a passion for crossword puzzles and word searches. She enjoyed trips to the casino and many nights at Bingo. Phyllis was extremely proud of her family whom she loved so deeply and left a lasting impression. She will be forever missed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Kevin Elrick of Billerica; her two sisters, Rosemary Hartling and Elaine Foote. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren of Stephen Casello and his wife, Meghan, Richard Casello, Jr. and Robin Harrington, Ashley Casello and Jon Cheney and Jackie Elrick and her three great grandchildren, Myla, Taylin, and Landon. She was also the loving mother of the late Robert “Bobby” Ingersoll and the sister of the late Virginia Gorman, Marilyn Smith, Eugene Hartling, John Hartling, Jr., James Gerald Hartling, Thomas Patrick Hartling, and Vincent Edward Hartling. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, October 13, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Attendees are required to sign up for the Mass at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/. Per current state guidelines, face coverings and social distancing is required while in the church.
