Obituary of Dolores C. Longuemare

Longuemare of Billerica, November 14, 2020, Dolores C. (Shimansky) Longuemare, age 76, died Saturday at Lowell General Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Alfred J. Longuemare. Dolores was born in Boston, February 1, 1944, the daughter of the late Stanley and Constance (Lima) Shimansky. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In that role, Dolores provided medical support and assistance to children in foster care.  Because of her dedication and devotion to the more than 500 children she fostered, Dolores was awarded a citation from Governor Michael Dukakis in the 1980’s as “Massachusetts Mother of the Year”. A long time Billerica resident, she was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in North Billerica. Besides her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Paul Longuemare and his wife, Michele and David Longuemare and his fiance, Martina Hoey, all of Billerica, and her two brothers, Jay and Paul Shimansky, both of California. She was also the loving grandmother of Alycia, Cole, Joshua, James, and Jacquelyn.  Visiting hours will be held in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica, Thursday, November 19, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing; we ask that visitors pay their respects and exit the funeral home promptly to allow other guests to enter.
