Kathleen B. Hegarty

 

Kathleen “Kay” B. Hegarty of Hudson, NH, a former long-time resident of Cambridge, MA, passed away on February 27, 2021 at 87 years of age after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

 

Kay was born in Cambridge, MA the daughter of the late John (Jack) and Anne (Uniacke) Hegarty.

 

Beloved sister of William “Bill” Hegarty of Hudson, NH. In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by brothers (and sisters-in-law) Michael (Grace) Hegarty, Thomas (Veronica) Hegarty and John “Midge” (Louise) Hegarty and sister-in-law Margaret Hegarty.

 

Kay was a gentle soul, devout Catholic, and long-time parishioner of St Mary’s Church, Cambridge, MA who walked through snowstorms into her eighties not to miss Mass.  She dedicated her life freely to the long-term care of her mother. Kay loved everything Irish and enjoyed several trips to the Emerald Isle. She spent her career at BayBank Harvard Trust Company working in the foreign currency exchange area of the International Money department. She was an active member of the Cambridge Senior Citizens for many years where she participated in line dancing, exercise classes, and many outings. Kay’s love of walking complemented her love of travel including trips to Cuba, Italy, Canada, and Hawaii to name a few. Kay truly cherished family and enjoyed celebrating the many milestones and achievements of her nieces, nephews, and their families.

 

In addition to her brother Bill, Kay is survived by many loving nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, several great great nieces/nephews and dear friends. 

 

Due to current health concerns services will be private.

 

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at a future date.
