I was really saddened to hear of Chris's passing. He joined me and my colleagues from MIT and Payload Systems back in 1991 when we traveled to Russia and Kazakhstan to place experiments on the Russian space station MIR, and was an incredible force for positivity and success on that trip. I greatly enjoyed working with him!

Condolences to the family.
I’ve learned he was great and a good guy.
I live across him, but never really had the chance to get to know him,
I’m so sorry for the loss.

A Creative Writing Piece I wrote for my dear friend Chris a few years ago that I know he enjoyed.
A Shooting Star’s Path Across The Sky
A shooting star whizzes across the sky; and it lands amongst other stars, leaving behind an outlined connection path of stars.
The stars were fading as the shooting star started its journey, but each suddenly became brighter.
The shooter star’s path gave those stars energy again and to not fade.
Laughter and joy was also provided as the shooting star left its mark.
Finally, strength was given, making the stars want to keep alive inside and grow.
An outline of a dragonfly was left, which brightened up the sky, as the dragonfly promotes self discovery and removal of insecurity.

I wanted to let Nick and all of Chris's friends know that late next year or in early 2024 some of the hardware the Chris designed and that flew on the Space Shuttle and Space Station will be on permanent display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. I was very glad that I let Chris know that this was happening earlier this year. I think he was very happy and proud to hear this, as well he should be. His work will be seen by millions of visitors, and especially children, for years to come and it will inspire new generations of engineers.
I and all the rest of his Payload colleagues will miss him.

Chris was an amazing man and will be missed. I learned so much from him during the early stages of my career that I couldn’t measure the positive ways he had an impact on me. Sending my sincere condolences to Nick and the rest of his family.

Chris was a kind and loving man to me and my family for over 5 years. He especially adored my grandson. We will remember how he much he loved to cook, teach Sunday school, his collection of science fiction movies and novels, his love of music and his passion about work and space exploration. We are so sorry for his loss. With love, Roberta Pinta

Joanne Yorks and I are very sorry to hear of Cris’ passing. Chris and Roberta Pinta had many happy times with us reminiscing about Pitt, and giving us insights into his amazing garden and the art and science of self-actuating valves! He was a Rocket Scientist who loved his work, his church, and his friends.
We miss him.
