Obituary of Elizabeth Mae Foley

Passed peacefully on December 12, 2022 at the Palm Center, Chelmsford, MA

Elizabeth (Betty) was born in Somerville, MA 94 years ago to the late Miller G. Reed (Boothbay Harbor, ME) and Ruby E. Reed (Dean of Livermore Falls, ME)

She was a sister to the late George Reed, Stanley Reed and Janet Reed.  Elizabeth was married to the late James P Foley, Sr.

She was preceded in death by her late sons James P Foley, Jr., Kevin J Foley and grandson Joshua Foley.

She is survived by daughters Paula C. Beardsley of Chelmsford, MA, Pamela A Foley of Rochester, NH and son Brian D. Foley of LaCoste, Tx.  Grandchildren, Matthew Sullivan, Kristin Carignan, Jennifer Riley, Dylan England, Steven Foley, Valerie Foley and 3 great grandchildren.

Elizabeth was a cottage industry worker of Vogue Dolls Inc. of Malden MA where she sewed dolls’ clothing for the Ginny Doll.  She later became a professional painter of Sebastian figurines in Lee NH.

Betty loved all things “Cat” and “Alaska”.  Those who knew her appreciated her enjoyment of taking numerous photos of everything and everyone and every subject. She just loved receiving mail, especially cherishing those envelopes that contained photos.

Betty was the treasurer of her church, The First Parish United Church of Christ (Congregational) in Somersworth, NH for 25 years, stopping when electronic recordings became the norm.

Prior to this recent decline in her health, she resided at the Wentworth Home in Dover NH, enjoying the daily company of others, participating in craft events. She especially loved winning when playing bingo.

A memorial service will be held at Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica, Tuesday, December 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, with a service at 5:30 PM. Relatives and friends invited.
