I just found out that Bob has passed away. I'm very sorry to hear the news. Bob and I were close friends while we both attended Catonsville Senior High School as well as Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, also in Catonsville. We were active in the church youth group called The Luther League and went to many local meetings together. While I was president of the Baltimore District Luther League, Bob served as the Evangelism Secretary where he planned several district wide services for the Lutheran youth in the greater Baltimore area. We were also members of the Senior Choir at Salem and we usually went out for burgers following the Thursday night rehearsal. I gave Bob his first driving lesson where he was able to drive down the road towards his home at 28 North Prospect Avenue and while navigating a turn off Edmondson Avenue, hit a tall fur tree on the corner property. Bob was, needless to say, very upset when this happened and I had him quickly slide to the passenger seat and I assumed the driver's position so he would not be blamed or cause additional problems since he did not have a driver's license. I also went to college and became an elementary school librarian for 42 years with the Howard County Public Schools in Maryland. Following high school, we lost track of each other but the wonderful memories will always be there. I have returned to Salem Lutheran at a member of the church of our youth and will provide flowers for the alter in Bob's name and memory. Tom Brzezinski, CHS 1958.
