I enjoyed working for four years on the Wednesday night learning community dinners at the First Church in Boston with Nancy. She organized planning meetings, social hours and menus in careful detail and persuaded a variety of well known authors, artists and other successful professionals to inform and entertain their audiences. She was an inspiring , caring and very talented woman who brought out the best in people! Sincerely, Ann Murray

As the long-serving leader of the First Church Boston Learning Community, Nancy and her team brought us memorable programs on the arts, politics, religious thought and more. Always a quiet but effective leader, Nancy's contributions were great and her friendship so valuable to me. We have missed dearly her warm presence at First Church programs.

I knew Nancy briefly through First Church Boston, where she got a kick out of our wearing similar light blue corduroy shirt jackets. Curious about everything, wanting to learn, with a sense of humor. May her family and dear ones find comfort.

As the secretary of Nancy's Wellesley Class of 1954, I send condolences to her large family and many friends. Nancy was a devoted member of our class and participated in many of our post-graduation activities. In particular I remember her attending one of our special mini-reunions on the Cape -- just days before Hurricane Sandy changed the landscape. Despite Nancy's tragic loss of her husband early in their marriage, she valiantly forged forward, raising four fine children and undertaking a successful psychotherapy career that helped many others live satisfying lives. Her classmates will miss Nancy's empathetic spirit and keen intellect.

I knew Nancy from First Church, and was always delighted to have a few words with her whenever our paths crossed. What a treat to discover that she was the mother of my favorite Mongolian script expert, too. I know she both soothed and energized many people. She was such a lady. And kindness itself.
