Obituary of Richard F. Boisvert

It is with great sorrow that we announce on Thursday, July 20, 2023, Richard F. Boisvert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away after a short illness. He was 83 years old.

Born September 13, 1939 in Arlington, to Frank and Jennie Boisvert, Richard lived and grew up in Lexington.  He graduated from Lexington High School in 1958. Richard worked for a few years after high school as an apprentice plumber and eventually joined the Army.  He transferred from the Army to the National Guard while he also attended night school to work his way to earn his Master plumbers license.  Richard was a proud member of Boston Local 12 Plumbers Union for over 53 years.

Richard was an amazing family man.  Married to his wife Joanne (Lowder) for over 60 years, he had four children, Richard Boisvert and his wife Debbra of Woburn, Nancy Theall and her husband Mark of Billerica, and Thomas Boisvert and his wife Christine of Natick survive him. His son Timothy Boisvert, predeceased his father, leaving his wife Maureen of Arlington. He loved his family and was always most happy when he was around them, especially enjoying family gatherings where he could spend time with his extended family. After marrying the love of his life, Richard settled his family in Arlington’s Kelwyn Manor for 40 years and later relocated to Billerica for the last 19 years of his life.  Moving to Billerica allowed Richard and Joanne to be closer to their children and his brother in law, the late Joseph Lowder, who he loved dearly and lived directly behind him as neighbors. Richard shared his love and skill for plumbing with his sons and his grandson who also became Master plumbers and members of Local 12. When not at work, Richard enjoyed spending time outside swimming in the pool with his grandchildren, tending to the yard riding his lawn tractor, and growing vegetables, a love and skill he learned from his mother.  Later in life, Richard found enjoyment in reading and would spend hours with his Kindle. He also loved spending time with his beloved dog Daisy who he had for 13 years. He would never miss an episode of his favorite show Blue Bloods, loved to listen to Shania Twain’s music, and especially enjoyed dancing to The Twist by Chubby Checker as highlighted in all his children’s wedding videos.

In addition to Richard’s wife and children he leaves behind his grandchildren Timothy Boisvert and his wife Tory of AZ, Patrick Boisvert and his wife Alicia of Woburn, Richard Boisvert III and his wife Mikaela of Woburn, Cailin Boisvert and her Fiancé John Allen of Melrose, Sean Boisvert (US Army, HI) and Meghan Theall of Billerica.  Richard was blessed with four great grandchildren who he adored, Patrick, Joseph, Isabella and Savannah. Richard also leaves behind his two loving sisters Barbara Carasitti and her husband Bob of Arlington and Rita Taylor and her husband Jack of Billerica, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Richard for a period of visitation on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Road, (Rt. 3A), Billerica. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends invited. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
