Obituary of Elizabeth A. Smith

Elizabeth Ann Smith, 84, of North Billerica, MA passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side from a lengthy battle with cancer.  She was born on April 28, 1939, at Lynn Hospital to the late Dorothy Evelyn McKenney-Hunter and passed away on November 6, 2023

Elizabeth was adopted by her late Uncle Anthony & Aunt Marie Gudaitis and shared a home with her late cousins Ann Comeau and Anthony J Gudaitis Jr.
She reconnected with her birth mother years later and cared for her.
Elizabeth's family called her Lizzy, and she was known by her neighbors, friends, and family as Liz.  She attended Lynn Classical High School and
grew up in Lynn, MA.

Liz met her husband, Wayne Smith, at their work Transitron Electronic Corporation in Wakefield, MA.

They lived as a young couple in Wakefield and decided to move to North Billerica, MA to raise their growing family, where she resided for the next
49 years. She leaves behind a loving husband, Wayne Smith, and two wonderful children, Jennifer Tate of Nashua, NH, and Jason Smith of Tyngsboro, MA, and her grandson, Hunter Tate, of whom she was very proud.

If you had to choose three words that describe Liz, they would be thoughtful, kind, and faithful.  Many summers, Liz and her family got together with neighborhood friends for cookouts/pool parties and planned camping trips with her family at the state parks on the Kancamagus Highway
in New Hampshire.   She baked her famous zucchini bread for all the
neighbors and knitted baby sweater set’s for mothers-to-be.   She was
one of the many faces of the Billerica Farmers Market for 12 years, alongside her husband, and the late Kay Johnson and Jerry Johnson. She helped organize several BBQs for the Community Garden and Men's Group.  Liz was very thoughtful towards others; you could always count on her sending a greeting card for every occasion.  She would even send you a thank you card in return.   She was known for her curser writing which is a lost art today.  Liz had an unwavering faith in God and was a proud member of Saint Andrews and Saint Thereasa  church in Billerica, MA.

All are welcome to attend her Funeral Mass at Saint Theresa Church, Billerica on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 10:00AM and her Celebration of Life at the VFW hall 12 Phiney St. N. Billerica, 01862 on November 21, 2023 from 6:00PM to 10:00PM. Relatives and friends invited.

In Lieu of Flowers, please send donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation
