Obituary Wanda Z. Makara
Wanda Z. Makara formally of Chelmsford, Brookline and Machowa , Poland passed away peacefully on January 7th after a long chronic illness. Wanda was the beloved wife of Stanley Makara, cherished mother of the late Kristina C. McDonald and late, David H. McDonald of Belmont, Roman T. Makara and wife Brenda Makara of Malden, Marta Makara-Higgins and husband Frederick G. Higgins of Chelmsford. Dear Grandmother of Christopher G. Makara and wife Jessica J. Makara of Tewksbury, Erika L. Makara of Malden, Frederick J. Higgins, Martina J. Higgins and Lauren E. Higgins of Chelmsford. Cherished Great Grandmother of Audrey Rose Makara. Wanda also leaves behind very many Nieces, Nephews, Grandnieces and Grand Nephews in Poland. Wanda was born in the Village of Machowa, Poland in 1928. She emigrated to America with her family in 1966, settling in Brookline Mass. Wanda worked as a Welder in her late teens which was terminated after an industrial accident. She continued to work with families in the household. In America Wanda was an entrepreneur growing her housekeeping business of many families for over 25years. She achieved her dream of owning a home in 12 years. She had lots of compassion for others and always wanted to help in any way. She loved cooking, baking and feeding her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Coloring, sewing and the family dog Maddie. She was a self-taught harmonica musician and enjoyed taking harmonica lessons at the Senior center in North Chelmsford. She was a member of the Harmonitones harmonica band for 3 years, visiting nursing homes and providing entertainment to the seniors. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 12, in St. Mary's Church, Chelmsford at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held Thursday in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment, Walnut Hills Cemetery, Brookline.
