Obituary of John P. Hart

John Patrick Hart, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday February 3, 2024. John was born on December 6th, 1941 to Richard Henry Hart and Marie Irene Hart in Concord NH. Shortly after John was born his family moved to Lynn, MA. After graduating from Lynn English High School in 1959 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a food inspector and veterinary assistant in France and was then honorably discharged in December of 1964. After the Army, he got a job at Blue Cross Blue Shield where he met his wife Elaine. They started their family shortly after marriage in 1968. They were married for 46 years and were only separated by her death in 2014. The family enjoyed camping trips all over the Northeast and Canada. John had a love for Siamese cats, tropical fish (and breeding), stamp collecting, classical music, local sports and ‘bassin’ at their lakeside camp. John was known for his ‘seeing the world through rose colored glasses’ and always feeling ‘fair to midland.’ He liked to joke and could beat the best watching Alex Trebech on Jeopardy. Later in life, John worked for the ElderHostel educating and advising people over 50 of travel options through the well known organization. He retired at the age of 69. John is survived by his brother James R Hart of Danvers MA and his wife Anna. He is also survived by his son David Hart and wife Karen of Litchfield, NH; son Dennis Hart and wife Jennifer of Akron IA and daughter Stephanie Cacioppo and husband Douglas of Akron Iowa and 7 grandchildren, Ryan Hart, Mathew Hart, Sarah Hart, Aidan Hart, Quinton Hart, Eloise Hart and Jacob Cacioppo. The family will be holding a graveside service at Fox Hill Cemetary on North Andover Road in Billerica MA. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at The Billerica Country Club. Flowers can be sent to Burns Funeral Home, Billerica or donations can be made in John’s name to The American Heart Association.
