Obituary of Johanna P. Silva
Johanna P. (Burke) Silva, age 80, of Billerica, MA., passed away peacefully on
February 2, 2024, surrounded by her husband, Richard, and her three daughters
Tracy, Robin, and Kristin. Johanna was born on July 11, 1943, in East Boston to the
late John and Catherine “Kitty” Burke. Johanna was also preceded in death by her
two sisters, Karen Canejo and Laurie Prochillo.
Johanna is survived by her loving husband, Richard Silva, with whom she shared
22 years of marriage; brother John Burke and his wife Olga of Lake Worth, FL;
daughters Tracy (Vadala) D’Urso and her husband David of Billerica, MA, Robin
(Vadala) Desrocher and her husband Brian of Austin, TX, and Kristin (Vadala)
Woodard and her husband Rick of Richardson, TX; grandchildren Alyssa Bartlett
and her husband Sean of Billerica, MA, Jennifer Horan and her husband Matt of
Billerica, MA, Hailey Woodard and fiancé Clayton Cramer of Sherman TX, and Ben
Woodard of Richardson TX; great grandchildren Ethan Bartlett, and Madilyn and
Maeve Horan; many nieces, nephews and close friends; step-daughters Paulette
Glasser and her husband Ken, Danielle Silva, and Janneen Pagliuca and her
husband Rob all of Billerica, MA; step-grandchildren Darrien, Nicholas and Malerie
Glasser, Audrey Downing, and Lianna, Vincent and Angelo Pagliuca.
Johanna was a graduate of Julie Billiart Central High School in the North End of
Boston, MA. Johanna was not only devoted to her family, but also a friend to
many. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend
who enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved. She was a mother figure to
more than just her own children. She was an avid golfer who was a member of
the Billerica Country Club for many years. Johanna was the first one to crack a
joke or lend a listening ear to those who needed her. She looked forward to the
times that her entire family got together, listening to them laugh and play.
Johanna especially loved spending time with her husband Richard.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24th, at the Burns Funeral
Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM. Relatives and
friends respectfully invited.
