Obituary of Eugenia del Valle
Eugenia del Vallé, 82 years young, received her wings when she passed peacefully on February 23, 2024, after battling dementia for several years.
Eugenia was born on January 1, 1942, the seventh of eleven children, in Cidra, Puerto Rico. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio del Vallé and the daughter of the late Felix Figueroa Nuñez and Rosa Caraballo Morales. She was survived by her brothers Artemio and Gumercindo and her sister Ana Hilda Figueroa. She was predeceased by siblings Julia, Maria Luisa, Epifanio, Editrudis, Felix Roberto, Ramon, and Edilberto. She was a devoted mother to her six children, Orlando, René, Alex, Awilda, the late Jose A. and Juan L. del Vallé. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Eugenia moved to Boston, MA, with her six children in the summer of 1973 with the assistance of her sister-in-law Carmen Figueroa. Several months later, she relocated to Cambridge, MA – her forever home. She is known well in the community for her gardening skills, as the icey lady, and her famous sofrito.
