Obituary of Henry Lucien Lussier, Jr.
Henry Lucien Lussier, Jr. 1953 – 2024 Henry Lussier, whose clear tenor voice can be heard in the chorus of many recordings by Boston Baroque, died on February 26, 2024. Henry sang with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus for over 30 years, touring with them to Europe and Japan. He was also a Tanglewood Vocal Fellow. Henry was born to Henry Lussier, Sr. and Estelle Raymond Lussier on November 23, 1953. He graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester, CT in 1971 and from MIT with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1976. While singing was Henry’s primary musical endeavor, he played the oboe proficiently and always regretted that his orthodontist told him he could not play the saxophone. After graduating from MIT, Henry lived the rest of his life in Cambridge, MA, participating in its music and arts life. He worked for the American Repertory Theatre and for the Lyric Stage Company of Boston. He was also a great cook, as those who cooked with him or ate his delectable meals knew well.Henry is survived by his mother, Estelle Lussier, of Eastham, Cape Cod, his sister, Frances Lussier (Tricia Smith) of Silver Spring, MD and Robert Lussier (Timothy O’Leary) of Middlefield, CT and many friends from his Cambridge family.Donations can be made to Community Servings or to the City of Cambridge Scholarship Fund.
