Obituary of Steven M. Bergin
Steven Michael Bergin, 71, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024 in Billerica, MA. He was born June 15, 1952 in Chelsea, MA. He lived most of his life in the Tewksbury/Lowell/Billerica area where he enjoyed the company of family as well as many friends. He graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1970 and went on to study at Middlesex Community College.
Steve worked hard at various jobs during his lifetime. However, many of us thought he should have been a teacher. He was not only knowledgeable and intelligent, but more importantly he had an easy going nature and friendliness that made him very approachable. Steve would converse with anyone about anything. And was always furthering his knowledge as he had a keen passion for reading and at times could easily be found at either the library or in a bookstore.
Steve was also an avid sports fan - for Boston teams of course, but he also had a particular interest in boxing. He was known to talk at length about boxers from all eras of the sport. He loved music as well, especially classic rock bands such as the Rolling Stones, among many others.
Steve is survived by his brothers, Donald T. Bergin of Westwood, MA, Elmer S. Bergin, Jr of Wilton, NH and Kevin W. (Marie) Bergin of Hudson, NH. He also leaves behind many nieces and a nephew. He is predeceased by his parents, Norma Brazil-Farnkoff and Elmer S. Bergin, Sr, his sister, Michelle M. Bergin, as well as his favorite pet dog, Chubby.
A memorial has been set for Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at New Colony Baptist Church, 30 River St., Billerica, MA 01821. Relatives and friends invited.
