Obituary of Catherine F. D'Arrigo
Catherine Frances D’Arrigo, 71, passed away peacefully at Care Dimensions Hospice House on June 10, 2024, after a long illness.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Marie and Samuel Perkins, and stepdaughter to the late John Peveronis, she was raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts and graduated from Jeremiah E Burke High School, often referencing being a classmate to late music icon Donna Summer.
Cathie attended college and completed her RN at Rivier University; an enormous milestone that she treasured dearly. She began her nursing career at Symmes Hospital in Arlington where she made lifelong friends and she diligently cared for others with compassion until its closure. Cathie's career continued while she worked at Lowell General for several years as a Nurse Manager, before spending the remainder of her career in the Emergency Department at Lahey Clinic in Peabody.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Cathie found solace in the simple joys of life. Cathie loved reading, going to the beach, cooking gourmet meals, and traveling all over the world where she created many cherished memories. Undoubtedly though, it was her role raising her family and being a beloved Nana that truly fulfilled her heart.
Cathie is survived by her daughters Michelle Bryan and her husband Mark, of Wilmington; Leann Fairall and her husband Neil, of Hopedale; and Kara D’Arrigo and her husband Joe Estrela, of Littleton; her grandchildren Kylie Estrela, Marisa Bryan, Victoria Fairall, Sarah Bryan, Samantha Bryan, Dylan Estrela and Alexander Fairall; her longtime partner David Rees, and her brother James Herrick, both of Billerica.
Cathie was predeceased by her three best friends Donna Ostroski of Billerica, Elaine Baglione of Hopedale and Maureen Herrick of Billerica, and leaves behind their families which she loved like her own. Cathie is remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in her honor. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity close to your heart in Cathie's name are warmly welcome.
