Obituary of Shirley Harris-Sprague

Shirley Harris¬-Sprague (Miller) passed away early Sunday morning, on July 13th.  She was born on October 6, 1936, in Somerville, MA where she was raised until moving to Billerica, MA, in 1959.  It was there Shirley raised her own family and lived throughout her adult life.  She was the last living sibling of the six children born to the late Blair and Laura (Redmond) Miller.
When her children were younger, Shirley was an active Girl Scout leader as well as a Sunday school teacher at her church.  Shirley spent many years working at Middlesex Community College, as a Bookkeeper in the Registrar’s Office before her retirement.
Some of her favorite pastimes were shopping on QVC, card nights with her friends, vacations with her family and “chatting it up” with her sisters.  However, her most favorite was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she always felt so blessed to have in her life.
Shirley’s faith was strong.  She knew when the time was near; God would have his hand out to guide her home.  Her favorite holiday was Christmas because of her love for Church and Family.  She also had great joy making her “Christmas Fudge” as well as many special pastries during the holidays.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Tracy Harris Carrigg, her two sons, James and David Harris, and her grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Kayla and Jimmy, and her two great granddaughters, Isabella Rose and Brooklyn Olivia.
She was a loving Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her late husband Walter Sprague, and her siblings; Howard Miller, Alice Dixon, Douglas Miller, Dorothy Linton, and Rita McIsaac.
A viewing will be at the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd, Billerica, MA, between 10-11 a.m. with the service to follow from 11-12p.m.  Everyone is welcomed to be there for the service with a light luncheon in the church parlor to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd, Billerica, MA, or the Alzheimer’s Association
