Obituary of Shirley L. Bedrick (Gale)

Shirley Lorraine Bedrick (Gale), 76, of Billerica, MA, passed away on 10/17/24 at Sawtelle Family Hospice in Reading, MA after losing her long battle with lung disease. Shirley’s final days were filled with family and friends.

Shirley was born in Cambridge, MA in the middle of a large and loving family. She graduated Cambridge High and Latin School in 1967. Shirley earned her Associates Degree and climbed the municipal ladder to become the Assistant Tax Collector for the Town of Billerica, MA. Shirley devoted her life to the people she loved. She enjoyed lunch with her ‘lunch bunch’, spending time with family, and always looked for ways to help those in need. Many in her life felt she loved them like her own child. Her impact will never be forgotten by so many she touched.

She is preceded by her parents William and Ruby Gale, her brother William Gale, her brothers in-law Eugene LeBlanc, and David Bruce. She is survived by her children Robert Bedrick, Jeffrey Bedrick and his wife Kristen, her granddaughter Gabriella, her sisters Dianne LeBlanc, Dorothy Szulewski, Sandra Gale, Sharon Joseph and her husband Jean Claude, Linda Hilliard and her husband Lawrence, Helen Bruce, and her brothers Kenneth Gale and his wife Betsy, Robert Gale and his husband Bryant, John Gale and his partner Kimberly. Many nieces and nephews including her goddaughter Jenna Joseph.

Services to honor Shirley's life will be held at Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Billerica, on Tuesday, October 22, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 23, at 10:00 a.m. in Somerville Community Baptist Church, 31 College Ave., Somerville, MA.
