Obituary of Robert J. Aquaro

On December 28, 2024, Robert J. Aquaro, Sr. was reunited with his dearly departed wife, Margaret-Ann. Born on June 17, 1944, Robert proudly served in the United States Navy, as a boiler man running evaporators in the engine room of Destroyers from 1962-1965. From there, he went on to pursue a career in automotive mechanics until his recent retirement.

Robert was the beloved husband of Margaret-Ann with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Robert is survived by his children: Matthew Aquaro and his wife, Melody of Danvers, Janette Farrell and her husband, Brian of Florida, Michele Rumley and her husband, Todd of Billerica, Sean Aquaro and his wife Millie of Gilford, NH. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Christopher Aquaro, John Thomas, Madeline Rumley, Alexandria Aquaro and Michael Rumley. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret-Ann (2023), brother, Michael (2006), son, Robert J. Aquaro, Jr. (2014), and his grandson, Matthew F. Aquaro (2015).

Robert worked for over 50 years as a mechanic and truck driver, with 24 of those years working for Crystal Motor Express, and most recently, Brothers’ Trucking, before parking the truck for the last time in 2021. He and Maggie traveled all over New England with their Motorhome group during his retirement. In addition to his traveling, Robert enjoyed his time camping, hunting, fishing and watching the Bruins on TV, but the highlight of his final year was buying a boat.  Robert spent the entire summer, and well into the fall out on the ocean, and at the beach with his friends doing lobster bakes and cruising the seas.  Just a few weeks ago, Robert was enjoying a truck show and hunting with his sons.

Family, friends and others whose lives Robert touched are invited to BURNS FUNERAL HOME 354 Boston Road, Billerica, MA from 4pm-7pm on Friday, January 3, 2025. Funeral services will be held at St. Theresa Church 466 Boston Rd. Billerica, MA on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 12pm.
