Obituary of Mary A. Pasho
Mary A. Pasho, a former teacher, passed away on January 9, 2011 at the age of 90.
Born in Billerica, April 11, 1920, the daughter of the late Chester A. and Frances (McDermott) Pasho, she was one of the few remaining granddaughters of a Civil War Veteran.
Mary was educated in Billerica, graduating from Howe High School. She continued her education at Lowell State Teachers' College, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. In 1959 she received her Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Boston University.
Her teaching career took her to Hanson, MA and Winthrop, MA, where she taught until 1975, also serving as Assistant Principal before retirement.
Mary was active in local affairs, serving on various committees and as an active Town Meeting Representative for over sixty years. She was most proud of the plaques, which she received from the different Town Associations.
Besides Mary's love of children and teaching and her involvement in local affairs, she had many interests, a great love of music and her life "on the farm" which her Dad owned. She loved her home in which she was born and tried hard to maintain it, keeping a garden and mowing the lawn until she could no longer.
A faithful attendant at church, Mary was an ecumenical person who tried to support other churches when able and was affiliated with both the First Congregational Church and St. Mary's Church in Billerica.
She held memberships in H.H.S. -B.M.H.S. Alumni, University of Mass-Lowell, Boston University Alumni, Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society, M.T.A.-N.E.A. Assoc., and the Billerica Historical Society. She was also appointed a Special Police Officer and did duty at the Billerica Lodge of Elks.
Mary is survived by her brother, Robert, and his wife Marion of Hartland, VT, two nephews, Chester R. and his wife Sandy of Hartland, VT and David A. and his wife Glenna of Casa Grande, AZ, four grand-nephews, one grand-niece, one great grand-niece, and five great grand-nephews, as well as cousins and her many dear, dear friends who were helpful to her. Mary was most grateful for their continued love, prayers, and general support in her last years.
