Obituary of Richard Semonian

Richard Semonian, of Billerica, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Born October 11, 1927 in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Virginia (Kabian) Semonian. Mr. Semonian spent his early years in Keene NH, serving as his Class President before moving to Boston and finishing his high school education at Boston Latin. He served with the United States Army during WWII. Following his time in the military, Mr. Semonian continued his education at Boston University where he received a degree in Geology. Richard worked as a field engineer for 24 years for the Army Corp of Engineers in Waltham. A longtime resident of Andover Road in Billerica, Richard considered his home his palace, the epicenter of life, full of love and celebration, with an open door policy to all. Known as a devoted family man and father, his happiest times were those spent surrounded by his family and friends. A day of golf, daily trips around town to play some Keno and buy scratch tickets, as well as his frequent trips to Foxwoods Casino, were other activities that he was passionate about and brought him lots of joy. He is survived by his children, Geoffrey Semonian and his wife Ronna of San Diego, CA; Dane Semonian and his wife Gail of Pittsburgh, PA; Ronald Byrnes of Billerica; Virginia (Semonian) Silva and her husband Stephen of Tyngsboro; Judi (Semonian) Farmer and her husband James of Billerica; Richard Semonian and his wife Ann Marie of Hawaii; and Karyn (Semonian) Wells and her husband Brandon of Tyngsboro; his sister Alyce Richardson of Woburn; his nephew John Martin of Stockbridge, GA; his 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and his son-in-law Donald Champagne of Billerica. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Donald Richardson.
