Obituary of Mary M. Woodside

Mary M. (Kane) Woodside, age 100, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica. She was the beloved wife of the late James A. Woodside, to whom she was married for over 50 years. She was born in Maynard, April 14, 1911, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Duggan) Kane. She worked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles for a short period of time, prior to working in the banking Industry as a secretary for the Newton-Waltham Bank, which became Bank of America. Mary's hobbies included hosting two tables of bridge, listening to radio broadcasts of the Red Sox, and keeping score on her homemade score sheets. She loved to entertain and bake, especially Toll House (chocolate chip) cookies, blueberry muffins, and lemon pies. She was also a volunteer at Emerson Hospital and a member of the Concord Council of Aging and Chelmsford Day Care Program. She will be remembered for her positive spirit and zest for life. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, James and Janice Woodside, of Billerica, her loving granddaughter, Heather R. Woodside, of Medford, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Francis, Robert, Hilary, Nicholas, and Sr. Rose Theresa.
