Cox, Richard D. Sr. of Wilmington, September 12, 2011. Beloved and devoted husband of Marilyn A. (Rose). Loving father of Lyn McGarry & her husband Michael, Richard D. Cox Jr. & his wife Christine, and Doreen Loud & her husband Edward, all of Wilmington. Brother of Joan Cox of NY, Robert Cox of FL, and Linda Burns-Allen of Beverly. Grandfather of Danielle McGarry, Bill McGarry & his wife Brianne, Patrick McGarry & his wife Emily, Matthew, Kristen & Meagan Cox, Edward Loud Jr., and Brianna and Emily Loud. Great-grandfather of Aidan, Sean, and Hailey McGarry. Son-in-law of Anne Rose of Wilmington, brother-in-law of Ted and Joyce Rose and Dottie and Donnie Carter. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Veteran of the United States Army, Massachusetts State Police, and MIT Campus Police Department. Cox was an accomplished martial artist and educator in the sport of Judo, as well as a member of the Kodokan Judo Federation. An original board member of the Tohoku Judo Club in Somerville, MA and founder of Kogai Judo Club in Everett, MA, Cox also competed in the 1964 U.S. Nationals and the first U.S. Olympic Trials for the sport. Former religious educator, associate editor of Universal Martial Arts Magazine, member of the Former MA State Trooper Association, the Secular Franciscan Order, and the Knights of Columbus.
