Obituary of Robert P. Fitzmaurice
Robert P. "Fitzy" Fitzmaurice, of Billerica, died, unexpectedly, Saturday, October 1, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Nell (Barton-French) Fitzmaurice. Born in Cambridge, December 30, 1958, he was the son of the late John and June (Smith) Fitzmaurice. He was employed by the Middlesex Sheriff's Department for 29 years, where he achieved the rank of Deputy Superintendent. A lifelong volunteer to the youth of Cambridge and Tewksbury, he coached numerous high school teams including Malden Catholic, Tewksbury High School, Andover High School ,and Matignon High School in football, baseball, and hockey. An athlete his entire life, Robert loved to play hockey and softball.
Besides his wife, Robert is survived by his children, Robert P. Fitzmaurice, Jr., Ryan Fitzmaurice and his wife Jessica (Sullivan), and Patrick Fitzmaurice, and their mother Lisa (Medeiros), his grandchildren, Shane and Owen Fitzmaurice, his brother, John Fitzmaurice and his wife Paula, his stepchildren, Jack and Mary French, and his aunts, uncles, many cousins, and close friends.
