Obituary of Dorothy Maxwell

Dorothy "Dottie the Twin" (Delorie) Maxwell, Age 84, on November 9, 2011 at 11:30 p.m. passed away peacefully surrounded by people that she loved at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. A lifelong Cambridge resident she resided at Sherrill House in Jamaica Plain for the past six months. Dorothy is survived by her loving identical twin sister Mary Johnson. She was the sister of the late James Delorie, Jr. She is also survived by her daughters Brenda Gilchrist and her husband Dicky, both of Medford, Sandy Quigley and her husband Tim of Natick, Cheryl Anselmo and her husband Rick of Natick, the "Golden Child" Carla Maxwell of Somerville, and Eileen Fisher of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by her 10 loving grandchildren, Kimberly, Mark, Kevin, Daniel, Jared, Zachary, Mikayla, Ryan, Nicole, and Kerri; her nephews Bobby, Eddie, and Brian Johnson; and niece Karen Johnson-Jagodynski. She also leaves her special cousins Patsy Bennett, Carol Newell, Betty Grady, and Gladys Sheehan. Dottie was the owner of Coffee Time Restaurant in Central Square for more than 30 years. After retiring from the restaurant business she was a cashier at the Cambridgeport School for many years. Dottie loved to sing and dance in her younger years. She was a devoted "Nana" and some of her fondest memories were spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to travel to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and the Mohegan Sun Casinos. Funeral services will be held in the John C. Burns & Sons Funeral Home, 305 Broadway, Cambridge, Monday, November 14, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends invited.
