Obituary of John A. MacMillan II

John A. MacMillan II of Billerica passed away early on Saturday morning, August 4, 2012 at the Bedford Veterans Administration Hospital. He was the beloved husband Sandra (Giovannangelo) MacMillan, with whom he recently celebrated fifty years of marriage. Born in Cambridge, March 20, 1943, he was the son of the late John MacMillan and Lillian (Fucile) Phinney. John was a graduate of Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge. He was also a twenty-seven year veteran of the United States Air Force and the Massachusetts Air National Guard, where he retired at the rank of Master Sergeant when his distinguished career came to a close. John was a Billerica Town Meeting member for many years and was the longtime Chairman of the Billerica Republican Town Committee. He also held the elected post of Massachusetts Republican State Committeeman for the 4th Middlesex District, which includes Arlington, Billerica, Burlington, Lexington, and Woburn. He loved his community and his country and always hoped that his military career, along with his participation in politics, would lead to a better life for his family and others in his community. Besides his wife, John is survived by his sons, Patrick MacMillan and Wayne MacMillan, both of Billerica, and Steven MacMillan and his wife Angela (Diamantopoulos) MacMillan of Lowell; his grandchildren, Sara, Sarah, and Rebecca; his brother, Brian MacMillan of Montreal; his daughter-in-law Christine (Mize) MacMillan; his niece Donna Winitzer and her husband Chuck; and many more cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was also the father of the late John A. MacMillan III, who died May 16, 2012, and the brother of the late Maureen LeNoir.
