Obituary of Robert F. Curtin

Robert F. Curtin, age 83, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington. He was the beloved husband of the late Iris (Whitney) Curtin. Born in Florence, MA, December 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Howard and Alice (Rubeck) Curtin. Robert served with the United States Marines during WWII. He trained the infantry to ride horses and earned the rank of Corporal. He loved all sports and in his early years played semi-pro basketball and baseball. He also raced cars in the Western MA Circuit. He was employed at Sear's in Dorchester for 27 years as a warehouse worker, retiring in 1988. Prior to working at Sear's he was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of Teamsters Local #25. The last 11 years he worked as a crossing guard for the Town of Billerica, where he has lived for 50 years. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Mark Baribeault of AZ and Jayne and James MacInnis of Billerica; his three grandchildren, Lisa MacInnis and her fiancee Scott McParland of Lunenburg and Jill and Michael MacInnis, both of Billerica; his sister, Ellen Chapin of Turners Fall; and his brother, William Curtin of Palmer.
