Belmira I. (Martins) Johnston, age 76, died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Johnston. Belmira was born in Cambridge, July 28, 1936, the daughter of the late Manuel and Silvana (Gravito) Martins. She was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin. She later moved to Billerica where she had been resident for over 50 years. Belmira was an active member of St. Theresa's Parish, volunteering as a Religious Education teacher for 13 years and serving as a Eucharist Minister. She was employed for 10 years by the Billerica Public School Department in the schools' cafeterias. Belmira is survived by her three children and daughter-in-law; Mark Johnston and his wife Sandy of Londonderry, NH, Laurie O'Connor of Hudson, NH, and David Johnston of Manchester, NH. She also leaves her three loving grandchildren, Ryan, Ross, and Courtney, and her nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Anthony Martins, Maria Pinheiro, and Manuel Martins.
