Obituary of Arthur S. MacIntosh
Arthur S. MacIntosh – Age 81, beloved husband of Jane (Ensor) MacIntosh died after a short illness on
Tuesday, October 15, at their home.
He was born in Lowell, MA, August 24, 1932, the son of the late Leslie and Mary (Nicholson) MacIntosh and was raised in Billerica, MA and graduated from Howe High School. Art served in the United States National Guard, 182nd Infantry Division. Art worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years, and was employed as a carpenter by Middlesex County and the State of Massachusetts. He especially enjoyed his work at the Cambridge and Concord courthouses.
Art was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Billerica, where he could be found repairing all matter of things. He was a founding member of Wednesday Morning Worship and Fellowship, and was always on hand to support church programs, especially the Ecumenical Lenten Luncheons. Art enjoyed camping with his family, traveling across country and to Prince Edward Island and daily jaunts with his wife Jane in their retirement. They enjoyed touring the seacoasts of Maine and New Hampshire and walking the Marginal Way in Maine.
Art was happily married to his wife Jane for 60 years. Besides his wife, Mr. MacIntosh is survived by his three sons, Ken MacIntosh of Shrewsbury, Don MacIntosh and his wife Marina of Mason, NH, and Bob MacIntosh of Somerville; and his grandchildren Sarah MacIntosh, Heather MacIntosh, Ed MacIntosh and his wife Jasvir. He is survived by his sister Doris Rafferty and her husband Dick, his sister Barbara Joyce Pendleton and her husband Charlie, and his brother John MacIntosh and his wife Joanne.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 10:30 am at The First Congregational Church, followed by burial at Fox Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Road, Billerica, MA.
