Obituary of Edward Freitas

Edward Freitas, age 75, of Billerica, died, unexpectedly, Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was the beloved husband of Maureen A. (McCarthy) Freitas. Born in Boston, June 17, 1939, he was the son of the late Augustine and Mary (Neto) Freitas. He served during the Vietnam Era with the U.S. Air Force Air Police. After the service he worked for Interstate Electrical Service in Billerica as a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Operator for 17 years. A resident of Billerica for 44 years, Edward was a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus, Council #3963, the American Legion, Post # 462, and an adult leader with the Boy Scouts, Troop 30. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Melissa (Greene) Freitas of Weymouth, his brother, John Freitas of Revere and his beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, and Amelia Freitas, his sister-in-law and her husband, Patricia (McCarthy) and Peter Hart of Georgetown and his brother-in-law and his wife, Dennis and Lorraine McCarthy of Stoughton. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Hender and her husband, William.
