Robert C. Newell, age 82, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Margaret E. (Bemiller) Newell. Born in Cambridge, January 12, 1927, he was the son of the late Harry and Ethel (Roberts) Newell. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Newell served during the Korean War. He later was employed as an electrician with Honeywell/Bull, retiring in 1991 after 26 years. Mr. Newell, a 44 year resident of Billercia, was an active member of several community organizations including the Thomas Talbot Lodge, A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Pack 88 as a Cub Master, the V.F.W., St. Anne's Episcopal Church, and a DeMolay advisor. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Newell and his wife Donna of AZ, Jeffrey Newell and his wife Marcia of Litchfield, NH, and John Newell and his wife Marybeth of Waltham. He also leaves his sister Edna Smith of Maine, his 5 loving grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
