Obituary of George A. Lyna
George A. Lyna, age 78, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home in North Billerica, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Janet A. (Kenyon) Lyna to whom he was married 53 years. He was born in Lowell, January 16, 1936, the only child of George and Elsie (Walker) Lyna. George, a lifelong resident of North Billerica, was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. After the service George worked as a chemist with Instrumentation Laboratory in Lexington for 30 years and later worked at Portlyn Corporation in Moultonborough, NH for 6 years prior to his retirement at age 62. He was a Scout Master with the Billerica Boy Scouts and also helped out with the Billerica Friends of Music when his children were growing up. George was an avid Red Sox fan. His happiest times were spent with his children and grandchildren. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Susan of Billerica, Jonathan and Colleen of Chelmsford, and Michael and Christine of Merrimack, NH. He also leaves his five loving grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Samantha, Patricia, and Abigail. He was also the father of the late Robert Lyna.
