Obituary of Lillian T. Denkewicz

Our beautiful and beloved mother, age 86, passed away quietly at home on Saturday, May 30, 2015 surrounded by her daughters and loving family members. Our mother was happiest in her own home in which she lived for 56 wonderful years. She loved her family, lived for family and died with family present. Lillian will be remembered for her selfless devotion, generosity, strength of character, quick wit and love for life. Her favorite activities included family time, line dancing, the daily Jumble, sitting under an umbrella in her yard, keeping up with politics and listening to talk radio. In earlier days, she worked in administration at Roberts School in Cambridge and was the Benefits Administrator for the Cambridge Public School Department, was a Eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Parish, and served on the Cambridge Model Cities Board. Lillian was the beloved wife of the late Theodore (Ted) Denkewicz and also was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Lillian Peters, her beloved daughter Nancy E. Burke, sisters Marietta Whitehead, Marguerite Parilla, Evelyn Mahoney and brother John Peters. She is survived by her brother Thomas Peters and sisters Grace O’Keefe, Ellen Mangiacotti and Jane Kurina. She is also survived by daughters Lynne Minervini (Robert) of Lewiston, Idaho; Carol Leroux (James), of Fort Mill, S.C.; Mary Kim Belkin (Jeffrey) of Longmeadow, MA, and Laurie Fitts (William) of Topsfield, MA. Lillian’s grandchildren include Amy, Stefani, Stephen, Sarah, Brittany, Ted, Kathryn, Matthew, Trevor, Tressa, Emma and Lily. Great grand children are Jackson, Roman, Robert, Grace, Lillie, Caroline, Theodore and Norah. Funeral from the John C. Burns & Sons Funeral Home, 305 Broadway, Cambridge, Tuesday, June 2, at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, Cambridge at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends invited.
