Obituary of Rose Anne Whiteway
Rose Anne (Hession) Whiteway passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley, Billerica, Monday, July 27, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Rose is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Grant H. Whiteway, Sr. (May 13, 2015). As with every anniversary, they will be spending this one together, but in heaven.
Rose was born April 2, 1937, daughter of the late Anne (Flaherty) and James J. Hession and raised in S. Woburn. Rose graduated from Woburn High School in 1957. Following her marriage, she and her husband raised their family in Billerica. She worked for the Town of Billerica School Department for many years as a custodian, cherishing her many friendships and children who passed through the halls.
Rose, an honoree member of the HHS-BMHS Alumni Association for her many years of volunteering for the Association, could be found at many Billerica athletic events, cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren who remember her as an essential part of all their lives. Each of them idolized her and appreciated her dedication to their extracurricular activities. Rose will be especially remembered for her undying love for her husband, Grant.
Rose is survived by her children, Evelyn A. Whiteway, Elizabeth and her husband, Terrance Patriquin, Virginia and her husband, Jim Ford, Grant Jr. and his wife, Linda Whiteway, and James H. Whiteway and his significant other, Helen Donovan. She also leaves her brother, James J. Hession, her sister and twin, Mary Lou and her husband, Carl Hanson, and her sister-in-law, Maryanne Whiteway of GA. In addition, Rose is survived by her loving grandchildren, Jenifr Patriquin, T.J. Patriquin, Ben Patriquin and his wife, Jaclyn, Sarah (Patriquin) McClellan and her husband, Adam, Jamie-Lee (Whiteway) Batista and her husband, Dustin, Brittany (Whiteway) Roberts and her husband, Jon, Grant H. Whiteway, III, and his significant other, Brianna Shaw, Lindsay Rose Whiteway, Timothy Parker and his significant other, Casey Sullivan, Ensign Meghan Ford, USN, Kelly Ford, Spencer D. Whiteway, and Cassidy M. Whiteway, and her great grandchildren, Kaley Rose Patriquin, Rian C. Callahan, Colin M. Newhall, Blake Grant Roberts, Wyatt J. Patriquin and Owen T. McClellan.
Rose was also treasured and loved by many including her nieces and nephews, and her dear lifelong and new friends.
She was also the sister of the late Helen and her husband, Edward Tedesco.
