Obituary of William J. Shaw

William J. Shaw, Jr., age 21, died Sunday, September 21, 2008. He was the beloved son of Tracy A. (Sullivan) and William J. Shaw of Billerica. He was born in Winchester, December 8, 1986. He participated in Pop Warner and Billerica Little League. For many years he was an altar server at St. Theresa Parish. A 2005 graduate of Billerica Memorial High School, Billy was an accomplished athlete and scholar, earning numerous awards. He was inducted into the National Honor Society and achieved High Honors status. Captain of both the high school football and lacrosse teams, his real passion was football. As a running back he broke and set many school records, including 40 carries and 312 yards in a single game. Billy was voted MVP of his Billerica Memorial High School Football team. A goalie for his high school lacrosse team he earned a Gold Medal at the 2004 Bay State Games, also while playing in goal. Throughout his high school years Billy earned six Varsity letters. He was awarded a scholarship to Bentley College for football. Besides his parents he is survived by his brother, Michael P. Shaw of Billerica, his great grandfather, Charles Walter Noke of Waltham, his aunts and uncles, Nancy and Arthur Brown, his godparents, of Westford, Maureen Sullivan of Arlington, VA, Christopher Sullivan of Waltham, Stephen Sullivan of Sacramento, CA, Maureen Burnham of Lowell, and Patricia and Ralph Berrett of Billerica. He was also the grandson of the late Francis and Antoinette Sullivan and William and Margaret Shaw.
