Obituary of Charles ‘Wayne’ Bennett
Charles ‘Wayne’ Bennett, age 78, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his home in Billerica surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary ‘Candy’ (Conroy) Bennett, and they would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on March 25th. Born in Boston, January 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Percy and Kathryn (Fitzgerald) Bennett. Wayne was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, having served 3 tours of duty while a member of the Air Commandos. He also served for many years as a Seabee before he retired after a combined 22 years of service in The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. He was a lifetime member of VFW William F. Eggo Post # 2597, Billerica Auxiliary Police, and a lieutenant with the Billerica Emergency Management Police for 10 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jason Boutwell of Billerica, daughter Audra Bennett of Billerica, son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Janine Bennett of Salem, NH, and sons Dwayne Bennett and Tony Bennett, both of Texas. He also leaves three loving grandchildren, Kinsey Rose Boutwell, Bennett Wayne Boutwell and Ryan Gregory Bennett. He was predeceased by his twin brother Scott J. Bennett and sister Joyce Ryan.
Wayne was a loving husband, incredible father, devoted grandfather and friend to many. He will be missed by us all.
